A public group sound journey is a healing session that involves a number of participants receiving the therapeutic effects of sound vibrations at the same time. Participants typically lie down on yoga mats or sit on pillows while the facilitator plays various instruments such as crystal singing bowls, gongs, tuning forks, chimes, and drums. The instruments are chosen for their unique vibrational frequencies, which have a therapeutic effect on the body, helping to release tension and stress, promote relaxation, and bring balance and harmony to the body and mind.
During a session, participants are invited to lie down on yoga mats or sit comfortably on cushions, as a range of instruments are played intuitively. These may include gongs, quartz crystal singing bowls, tuning forks, chimes, drums, and other vibrational tools, each chosen for their unique frequencies and the way they support relaxation, release, and balance within the body and mind.
As the journey unfolds, you’ll be guided to soften your awareness and rest into the sounds as they gently wash over you. Many people experience deep relaxation, a meditative state, emotional release, or moments of insight and clarity. Benefits can include reduced stress and anxiety, improved sleep, nervous system regulation, and an overall sense of calm and wellbeing. The shared nature of a group sound journey can also foster connection, offering an opportunity to learn from others’ experiences and feel held within a collective space.
Important considerations
Public sound journeys may not be suitable for everyone. Those with noise sensitivity, heightened sensory awareness, or unresolved trauma may find a group setting overwhelming. In these cases, a private 1:1 sound healing session may offer a safer and more supportive experience, allowing the session to be fully tailored to your needs.
Please also be aware that during public sound journeys it is common for participants to fall into a very deep state of relaxation — this can sometimes include snoring. This is a natural response of the nervous system settling, and I do not interrupt this process, so it may be part of the shared experience.
